Spider Access Systems Delivers for Coomera Indoor Basketball Centre

We recently sold a Socage Raptor 21S to Spider Access Systems, a Gold Coast and Northern NSW-based business offering spider lift hire.

They rely on Socage spider lifts to get the job done, and recently sent us some images of a job they did in Coomera. It’s a perfect example of when you’re running a job that needs height, control and tight access handling, you want the right gear on your side.

And the Socage Raptor 21S they had bought from Altequip was perfect for this job.

The job? Camera works for the Coomera Indoor Basketball Centre’s new game statistics tracking setup. The space? Indoors, polished floors, limited entry points and not much margin for error. The solution? A spider lift that fits where others don’t, moves cleanly, and works quietly.

Let’s take a closer look at the job.

The Site: Coomera Indoor Basketball Centre

Coomera Indoor is a modern multi-court facility with high ceilings, smooth surfaces, and constant foot traffic. It’s built for sport, not for machinery. So when it came time to get cameras installed for a new tracking system, Spider Access Systems needed equipment that could perform without making a mess or causing a fuss.

There were a few key challenges. Tight indoor access, high-mounted fixtures, and a requirement to protect the floors from damage. Anything bulky, loud or slow to set up would’ve been more of a hindrance than a help. This is where the Raptor came into its own.

Why the Socage Raptor 21S Was the Right Fit

The Socage Raptor 21S is built with indoor work in mind, which makes it ideal for camera installations, lighting maintenance, and signage inside sports centres, airports, shopping centres, and other hard-to-reach places.

Here are some of the features that made it perfect for the job at Coomera.

White Non-Marking Tracks

You can’t be dragging black rubber or scuffed wheels across floors like the ones at Coomera. The Raptor’s white tracks are non-marking, which means no clean-up headaches and no permanent damage.

Electric Motor for Indoor Work

Diesel engines have their place, but not indoors. The Socage Raptor 21S runs quietly and cleanly on electric power, making it safe for enclosed environments. No fumes – just smooth, reliable performance that lets the team focus on the job.

Hydraulic Expandable Tracks

Access was tight – luckily the hydraulic tracks on the Raptor can be narrowed to just 830mm including outriggers, which makes squeezing through doorways and narrow walkways possible. Once inside, the tracks expand back out for extra stability while working.

Automatic Stabilisation and Pack-Up

Time on site matters, and so does safety. The automatic stabilisation system helps the crew get set up quickly and safely, while the auto pack-down feature means no fiddling around when it’s time to move to the next job. It’s all about efficiency.

Large Outrigger Pads

The Raptor’s large outrigger pads help spread the weight, keeping things stable and floor-friendly. That’s critical for polished indoor surfaces like the basketball centre.

Spider Access Systems: Built for Tight Access Jobs

Matt and the team at Spider Access Systems have built their business around helping clients access hard-to-reach spots across the Gold Coast and Northern NSW. Whether it’s inside a commercial warehouse or above a basketball court, they’ve got the gear and the know-how to get in and out without a fuss.

The Socage Raptor 21S fits right into their operation. It’s compact enough for the tricky jobs and capable enough for the high ones. That flexibility means Spider Access can say yes to more work, with full confidence in their equipment.

The Results Speak for Themselves

Thanks to the Raptor 21S, the camera works at Coomera were done cleanly, safely, and on time. No delays or surface damage and no issues from the facility.

It’s always rewarding to see our EWP machines out there earning their keep. Thanks to Matt and the Spider Access Systems crew for sharing the job and showing what the Raptor can do in real-world conditions!
